Our Region


The New England North West region of New South Wales, referred to as Big Sky Country is approximately four and a half hours drive north of Sydney.
The New England North West region stretches from the New England Highway to the edge of the Outback, including the Great Dividing Range between Tamworth and Tenterfield, the Namoi and Gwydir River Valleys of Inverell, Moree and Narrabri, and the wild west frontier towns of Walgett and Lightning Ridge. The region is crossed by the Newell, Gwydir and New England Highways and is well serviced by air routes from Sydney and Brisbane.

The New England North West region is a farming region producing cotton, wool, wheat and nuts with a strong cattle and sheep farming community. Australia’s largest farm show is hosted at Gunnedah each year called the Ag Quip.

The New England North West region offers a range of activities and attractions making it an ideal holiday destination. Activities on offer range from:
